A group video call
A group video call for a project has run an hour. Your head is full and you cannot follow it any more.
What could you type in the chat?
Three things you could say. None of them is the one right answer; each note says why it fits the moment, or why it may not.
Need five minutes. Back at ten past.
A strong fit
It says what you need and when you will be back. The group can carry on.
Can we take a short break?
Also works here
This asks the group to pause together. If they do not, you can still take yours.
Turn your camera off and stop listening.
Worth a second look
Cameras off is allowed. It does not give your head the break it needs.
What people here usually expect
- Typing a break into the chat is normal on long calls. Nobody needs a reason.
- Saying when you will be back helps the group carry on.
- Most calls have someone step away at some point.
Your words
Write the chat message you would send to take a five-minute break from a call.
In the app you write one line here and it lands in your lines. Nothing is graded.
The move this moment practises: Ask for a break.
