When Someone Does Not Laugh at My Joke
I told a joke, and nobody laughed.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes I tell a joke I think is really funny. But the other person does not laugh.
2. That can feel disappointing. I wanted to share something funny!
3. No laugh can mean many things.
Why might someone not laugh? They did not hear it or did not get it. They have a different kind of funny. They are not in a laughing mood right now. We do not have enough information to know. ๐ก There are many reasons a joke lands quietly. We cannot know which one without more information. My joke can still be a good joke.
4. I do not have to tell the joke again louder. I can save it for someone else. I can move on to the next fun thing.
5. I can also ask, "Did you get it?" Sometimes explaining once helps. Then I let it go.
6. Comedians say jokes are like seeds. Some grow, some do not. I will have many more jokes. Some will get big laughs.
