When Someone Says Hi to Me
Answering a greeting. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes someone says hi to me first. A greeting is like a little door opening.
2. I can answer with "hi" back. I can wave. I can nod. Any of these tells them: I heard you.
3. If I want to keep talking, I can add more: "Hi! How are you?" If I do not, "hi" alone is complete.
4. A classmate says "hey!" to me in the hall.
5. Sometimes I miss a greeting because I am thinking about something. That happens to everyone. If I notice late, I can still wave.
6. Greetings are short. They start and end in a few seconds. I answered, and that little door opened and closed just right.
