A Call With Grandma

Talking on a phone or video call. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.

1. Sometimes I talk to Grandma on the phone or on a video call. She is far away, but her voice comes right to me.
2. Calls sound different from real-life talking. Voices can crackle. Sometimes the screen freezes.
The sound might be fuzzy or too loud. There can be a delay after someone talks.

3. On a call, we cannot see everything like in person. So we use extra words: "I'm nodding!" "I'm showing you my drawing โ€” can you see it?"
4. Grandma asks about my week.
5. When the call gets long, I can say: "I'm ready to say bye now. I love you!" Grandma understands. Calls do not have to be long to be good.
6. We say "I love you" and "bye," and someone presses the red button. The call ends. Grandma is still there, far away and close at the same time.
