The Group Chat Moves Fast
Messages zoom by faster than I can read them.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes I am in a group chat. Messages pop up fast. Ding, ding, ding.
2. Fast chats can feel like everyone talking at once. My eyes jump around. It is hard to know where to start.
Buzzing notifications, bouncing bubbles, jokes flying past.
3. Here is a secret: nobody reads every message. Nobody answers everything. Chats are a river, not a test.
4. I have choices in a fast chat.
read slowly and skip what I missed reply later when it is quieter mute the chat for a while ask a grown-up to help me set quieter notifications
5. Sometimes I send a message and the chat rushes past it.
Why did nobody answer my message? The chat was moving fast and it scrolled by. People saw it but are busy right now. Someone will answer it later tonight. We do not have enough information to know. ๐ก A skipped message is usually about speed and timing, not about me.
6. I can put the device down whenever I want. The chat keeps flowing without me, and that is fine. It will be there later, and so will my friends.
