When I Hurt Someone by Accident
I bumped someone or broke their thing, and I did not mean to.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes accidents happen. I bump someone in line. I knock their tower over. I step on their drawing.
2. An accident is not the same as being mean. I did not plan it. But the other person might still feel hurt or upset.
3. Their feeling is real even though my accident was not on purpose. Both things are true at once.
4. The helpful move is: check on them, say sorry, and offer to help fix it.
5. I can practice my accident words.
6. After the sorry and the fixing, the accident is over. Accidents do not make me a bad kid. They make me a kid, and kids repair things.
