Someone in my family is cutting my hair today.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes my haircut happens at home. A chair in the kitchen or bathroom, a towel or cape on my shoulders, and someone in my family doing the cutting.
2. Haircuts have small strange feelings. Snipping sounds near my ears. A spray bottle misting my head. Little hairs that tickle my neck.
Snip-snip sounds, cool water mist, tickly cut hairs on skin.
3. Home haircuts have a nice secret: I know the person, I know the room, and we make the rules together.
4. I have choices during a home haircut.
watch a show while the cutting happensask for a break when I need oneask for a warning before the spray bottleask a grown-up to brush the tickly hairs off right away
5. I can say "pause, please" at any time, and the scissors stop. Breaks are part of the plan, not a problem with the plan.
6. A haircut takes maybe fifteen or twenty minutes. Then the cape comes off, the tickly hairs get brushed away, and I shake out my new lighter head. Done until next time.
In the app, your child can choose what happens next, rehearse lines out loud with Spark, and try different endings โ including hearing a kind "no" and being celebrated for respecting it. Parents can also create fully personalized stories.
