I tell the counter person what I would like. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Today I am going to order my own food. That means I tell the counter person what I would like, all by myself. A grown-up stays right next to me.
2. First I decide what I want before it is my turn. I can read the menu or look at the pictures. Deciding first makes the ordering part easy.
Counters can be busy, with beeps and sizzling and people talking. The menu might be up high.

3. When it is my turn, I say my order. Something like: "May I have the cheese pizza, please?" If they do not hear me, they might say "What was that?" โ that just means say it again, maybe a bit louder.
4. I have choices. I can point at the menu while I say it. I can hold my grown-up's hand while I order. I can ask the grown-up to finish the order if I get stuck โ starting counts, even if I do not finish.
5. I can practice with Spark. Spark will be the counter person.
6. After I order, the grown-up pays, and we wait for the food. When they call our number or name, we pick it up and say thank you.
7. Then we sit and eat. Ordering is done โ and I did the talking part myself. Every time I try it, it gets a little easier.
In the app, your child can choose what happens next, rehearse lines out loud with Spark, and try different endings โ including hearing a kind "no" and being celebrated for respecting it. Parents can also create fully personalized stories.
