Too Loud โ Asking and Being Asked
Volume asks go both ways: I can ask for quieter, and someone may ask me.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Ears are different. Some sounds that are fine for one person are too much for another. Both ears are right about themselves.
2. When something is too loud for me, I used to just hold it in and feel worse and worse. Nobody knew, so nothing changed.
3. Now I have an asking sentence: "Could that be quieter, please?" It is polite, it is allowed, and most people simply say yes.
ask "could that be quieter, please?" use my headphones move to a quieter spot ask a grown-up for help finding quiet
4. I tried it at home when the TV was booming. Dad said, "Sure!" and turned it down. That was the whole thing. Asking took four seconds.
5. Sometimes it goes the other way: I am the loud one, and someone asks me. That is not being in trouble โ it is just information about their ears.
My sister says, "Could you keep it down? I'm reading." What is true? Her ears are full right now โ my volume can move somewhere else. She hates my game. I can be loud in the yard instead. ๐ก A volume ask is about ears and places, not about who is good or bad. My loud has places where it fits perfectly.
6. So I said, "Okay โ I'll take it to the yard." She said, "Thanks!" Everyone's ears got what they needed.
7. Volume asks go both ways, and both ways are kind. My ears count. Their ears count. And asking beats suffering, every time.
