Too Many Feelings at Once
Happy, mad, worried — all mixed up at the same time.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes I have lots of feelings at the same time. Happy and worried. Excited and mad. All mixed up.
2. Mixed-up feelings can feel like a storm inside. My body might not know what to do.
A swirly tummy, a busy brain, energy with nowhere to go.
3. Having many feelings at once is normal. Feelings do not wait in line. Sometimes they all arrive together.
4. I do not have to sort them all right away. I can just say, "I have a lot of feelings right now."
5. I can help my body first.
take slow breaths squeeze my hands together take a break in a quiet spot ask an adult to help me
6. When the storm gets smaller, I can name one feeling at a time. "Some of me is excited. Some of me is worried."
7. Storms inside always pass. Feelings are like weather. They come, and then they go.
