I did something great. Sharing it warmly โ without turning it into a scoreboard.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. I got my test back and it was a great grade. I worked hard for it, and the proud feeling was huge. Proud is a good feeling to have.
2. At lunch I announced it to the whole table โ twice โ and asked Marcus what he got so I could compare. His face went flat. The table went quiet. My news was good, but something about the delivery landed wrong.
3. Here is the unwritten rule, written down: sharing joy invites people in. Comparing scores pushes people out. The difference is whether there's a scoreboard.
4. The share-and-hand-back sounds like: "I got an A and I'm so happy โ I studied all week. How did yours go?" My win, briefly. Then a real turn for them.
5. Next test, I tried it exactly that way.
6. My pride is welcome. Their feelings are real too. Joy shared with a hand-back gets bigger; joy with a scoreboard gets lonely.
In the app, your child can choose what happens next, rehearse lines out loud with Spark, and try different endings โ including hearing a kind "no" and being celebrated for respecting it. Parents can also create fully personalized stories.
