Joining a Game

Kids are already playing and I want in. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.

1. Sometimes kids are already playing a game. I want to join them.
2. First I can watch for a minute. Watching helps me learn the game and find a good moment to ask.
3. A good moment is a pause — between rounds, or when someone looks over at me.
4. I ask to join.
5. Games with many players can be tricky to join.
Why might a game be full?
  • The game only works with certain numbers.
  • The teams are already even.
  • They are in the middle of a close round.
  • We don't know yet — and that's okay.
💡 A full game has game reasons. I can wait for the next round or find other fun.
6. When the game ends, everyone goes back to their day. Maybe I played, maybe I will next time. Asking to join gets easier every time I try.
