A friend comes to play at my home. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. A friend is coming to my house to play. This is called a playdate.
2. Before they come, I can put my most special things somewhere safe. The toys left out are toys we can share.
3. When my friend arrives, I can say hi and show them around. My house is new to them.
4. As the host, I can let my friend pick a game first. Then I pick one. We take turns choosing.
5. Sometimes playdates hit a bump. Maybe we disagree, or someone gets tired.
take a snack break switch to a calmer game play side by side for a while ask my grown-up for help
6. In the middle, my friend gets quiet.
What might quiet mean? They are focused on the game. They are getting tired. They miss home a little. We don't know yet โ and that's okay. ๐ก Quiet has many meanings. A kind question finds the real one.
7. When the playdate ends, their grown-up comes. We say goodbye and maybe plan another one. The playdate is over โ we made it fun together.
