When a Friend Is Upset
My friend looks sad or upset. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes my friend seems upset. Maybe their face looks different. Maybe they are quiet or crying.
2. I cannot know why without asking. Upset has many causes.
Why might my friend be upset? Something happened at home or school. They are tired or hungry. Something I don't know about at all. We don't know yet โ and that's okay. ๐ก I can't read minds โ nobody can. Asking gently beats guessing every time.
3. I can check on my friend gently.
4. If my friend wants space, I can give space. Space is a gift too.
5. If the upset seems big or scary, I can tell an adult. Getting help is not tattling. It is caring.
6. Feelings change like weather. Later, my friend will likely feel better. The upset moment ends, and I was a good friend through it.
