Taking Turns With Friends
Playing games where we each get a go. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Friends take turns when they play. One person goes, then the other. Back and forth, like a swing.
2. On my turn, I play. On my friend's turn, I watch and wait. Both parts are the game.
3. Waiting can make my body wiggly.
count while I wait plan my next move in my head cheer for my friend ask for a fidget to hold
4. Sometimes my friend's turn takes a long time.
Why might a turn take long? They are thinking hard about their move. The game gave them a lot to do. They got distracted for a second. We don't know yet โ and that's okay. ๐ก Turns come in different sizes, but they always come back around to me.
5. If we disagree about whose turn it is, we can check together. We can start over the count. We can ask an adult if we get stuck.
6. When the game finishes, the turns are done. Everyone got a go. Taking turns made the game fair and fun.
