My Friend’s Wheels
A kid I know uses a wheelchair or a walker, and I am curious.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Some kids use a wheelchair or a walker to get around. Bodies move in lots of different ways.
2. I might feel curious about it. Curious is okay. Curious and kind can go together.
3. The wheelchair is part of their space, like my backpack is part of mine. I do not touch it, lean on it, or push it unless they ask me to.
4. They are a whole kid, with favorite games and favorite jokes. The chair is just one part of their day.
5. If I want to ask about it, I can ask them first if it is okay.
6. After we talk or play, the day rolls on for both of us. Friends come with all kinds of wheels, walkers, and feet.
