My family is packing up and moving to a new place. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. My family is moving to a new home. Moving means our things travel from the old home to the new one. Our family stays together the whole time.
2. First we pack. Our things go into boxes. The rooms look emptier each day. That can look strange, but our things are safe inside the boxes.
I might hear tape screeching and boxes sliding. The house might echo more when it is empty.
keep my comfort things in a special bag that does NOT get packedask which box my toys are intake breaks in a quiet corner
3. On moving day, big helpers or family carry the boxes to a truck. It is busy and loud for a while.
Thumping, rolling, doors opening and closing. Lots of walking back and forth.
use my headphonesstay in a safe spot with a grown-upwatch the truck from a windowask what happens next
4. I have choices. I can choose what goes in my special bag. I can help pack a box or watch instead. I can ask to say goodbye to my old room.
5. Feeling sad about the old home is okay. Feeling excited is okay. Feeling both at once is okay too. Feelings can mix.
6. Then we travel to the new home. My room might look different. My same bed and toys come with me. Little by little, the new room starts to feel like mine.
What could the first week be like?
We unpack and I find all my things again.
The new house sounds different at night at first.
I miss the old home sometimes.
We don't know yet โ we can ask my grown-ups about the plan.
๐ก First weeks are different for everyone. Asking about each day's plan makes it feel safer.
7. After a while, the moving part is over. The boxes are gone. My bed is in its spot. My family is together in our new home. That is when moving is done.
In the app, your child can choose what happens next, rehearse lines out loud with Spark, and try different endings โ including hearing a kind "no" and being celebrated for respecting it. Parents can also create fully personalized stories.
