Our Big Road Trip

We are taking a long, long car ride.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.

1. Sometimes my family takes a road trip. That means a long, long time in the car. Hours, not minutes.
2. Long rides are easier with a plan. Snacks packed. My own bag with my things. Stops to stretch and use the bathroom.
3. My body might get wiggly and tired of sitting. Wiggly is normal on long rides.
The seatbelt on my shoulder, engine hum, scenery sliding by and by.
wiggle my toes and stretch in my seatlisten to music or a storyplay the license plate gameask a grown-up when the next stop is
4. Sometimes the car slows way down and stops moving.
Why is traffic stopped?
  • There is road construction ahead.
  • Too many cars are going the same way.
  • Something happened ahead and helpers are there.
  • We do not have enough information to know.
💡 Stopped traffic has a reason we usually cannot see. It always starts moving again.
5. Asking "how much longer" is allowed. Grown-ups can show me the map with the little dot. Watching the dot get closer is like a progress bar for our trip.
6. Every road trip ends the same way: the car slows, turns, and stops at the place we were going. Doors open, legs stretch, and the adventure part begins.
