Asking My Teacher for Help
When schoolwork feels hard. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes my work feels hard. That happens to every kid. It even happens to grown-ups.
2. When work is hard, I can ask my teacher for help. Asking is smart, not bad.
3. I can raise my hand. Or I can walk to my teacher when it is allowed. Or I can use a help card if my class has one.
4. I raise my hand and wait.
What could happen next? My teacher comes right over. My teacher says "one minute" and helps someone else first. A classmate offers to help me. We don't know yet โ and that's okay. ๐ก Help can come in different ways and at different speeds. It is still coming.
5. When my teacher comes, I can say what is hard.
6. After I get help, the work feels smaller. I finish what I can. When the lesson ends, I am done โ and asking made it easier.
