The whistle ends recess. Stopping fun is a hard transition โ with a trick.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Recess is running and climbing and my own games. I like recess a lot.
2. Then the whistle blows. Recess is over. One time my legs did not want to stop. Stopping fun is genuinely hard.
3. My teacher taught me the "one last one" trick. When the signal comes: one last slide, or one last jump. Then my body gets an ending it chose.
4. The next day I tried it. Whistle. "One last one!" I took one last trip down the slide, then walked to the line.
5. Sometimes my body still feels wiggly in line. That is okay.

6. Recess comes back every day. Stopping today does not lose it โ it just pauses it. My teacher said, "You picked your last one and lined up โ that was smooth."
7. Fun ends and comes back. The whistle is not the end of fun forever. It is just the door back inside.
In the app, your child can choose what happens next, rehearse lines out loud with Spark, and try different endings โ including hearing a kind "no" and being celebrated for respecting it. Parents can also create fully personalized stories.
