Riding the School Bus

Taking the bus to and from school. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.

1. Some days I ride the school bus. The bus is big and yellow. A driver takes us to school.
2. The bus can be bumpy and loud. Kids talk. The engine rumbles.
The seats vibrate. Windows can be bright. Voices echo.

3. I find a seat and sit down. I keep my backpack on my lap or by my feet. I stay in my seat while the bus moves.
4. I can talk to a seat buddy. I can look out the window quietly. Both are good ways to ride.
5. The bus makes stops along the way.
What could happen at a stop?
  • More kids get on.
  • The bus waits a minute.
  • Nothing much โ€” we keep rolling.
  • We don't know yet โ€” and that's okay.
๐Ÿ’ก Bus rides have small changes every day, but the route ends at the same place.
6. When the bus reaches school, the doors open. I walk down the steps and head to class. The ride is done. It will bring me home later too.
