Focus drifts โ that is a brain thing, not a bad thing. Strategies bring it back.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. In class my brain sometimes floats away from my work โ out the window, into a daydream, over to a noise. Every brain drifts. Mine, yours, the teacher's.
2. Once I drifted so long the worksheet was still empty when the timer rang. I felt bad โ but feeling bad did not fill in the answers.
3. The skill is not "never drift." The skill is noticing the drift and coming back. Noticing IS the win.
4. My favorite strategy is chunking: three problems, then a ten-second stretch. Little finish lines make the work feel like hops instead of one giant leap.
5. When my body is extra wiggly, wiggling is information, not badness.
chunk the work into hopsten-second stretch between chunkssqueeze the chair with both handsask the teacher for help or a movement break
6. The next worksheet, I hopped: three, stretch, three, stretch. I drifted once, noticed, and came back. The sheet got done with time left over. My teacher said, "You caught your focus and brought it back โ twice. That's the skill."
7. Drifting is human. Coming back is a skill, and it is mine now. Three, stretch, three โ hop by hop, the work gets done.
In the app, your child can choose what happens next, rehearse lines out loud with Spark, and try different endings โ including hearing a kind "no" and being celebrated for respecting it. Parents can also create fully personalized stories.
