My Teacher Is Away Today
I get to class, and my teacher is not there.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes I walk into my classroom and my teacher is not there. A different grown-up is at the desk.
2. This can feel surprising. My plan for the day had my teacher in it.
3. I might wonder where my teacher went.
Why is my teacher away? My teacher is sick and resting at home. My teacher is at a meeting or a training. Something came up in their family. We do not have enough information to know. 💡 There are lots of reasons a teacher can be away. None of them are about me.
4. The classroom is still my classroom. My desk is still my desk. The class jobs still work the same way.

5. The helper teacher does not know our class yet. I can help by telling them how things usually go.
6. Most times, my teacher comes back in a day or two. The school day still ends at the same time, and I still go home.
