There are tryouts for a play, a team, or a show, and I want to try.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes school has tryouts. It might be for a play, a team, or a talent show.
2. Trying out means showing what I can do. Everyone waits, and everyone gets a turn.
3. My body might feel nervous while I wait. That is my body getting ready.
A fluttery tummy, a fast heart, wiggly hands.
practice my part ahead of time take slow breaths in line squeeze my hands together ask a grown-up what will happen at tryouts
4. I can choose to try out, or choose not to. Both are okay. If I try, the trying itself is the brave part.
5. After tryouts, I wait to find out.
What could happen after tryouts? I get the part or spot I wanted. I get a different part or spot. I am not picked this time. We do not know yet until the list goes up. ๐ก Any of these can happen, and I was brave in every one of them, because I tried.
6. Tryouts end when everyone has had a turn. Then I go back to my regular day. However it turns out, I did something new today.
