Bright Lights
Lights that feel too bright, buzzy, or flickery.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Some places have very bright lights. Big stores. Some classrooms. The dentist.
2. Bright lights can hurt my eyes. Some lights buzz or flicker too. Not everyone notices, but I might.
Glaring white light, a faint buzz or flicker, shiny floors bouncing light everywhere.
3. If lights bother me, that is real. Some eyes and brains take in more light than others.
4. I can protect my eyes.
wear a hat with a brim wear sunglasses look down or at softer colors take a break somewhere dimmer ask an adult for help
5. I can ask for changes too. "Can we sit by the window instead?" "Can we turn off one row of lights?" Asking is allowed.
6. I can give my eyes rest breaks. Close them for a few breaths. Look at something dark and soft.
7. Bright places end when we leave them. Outside or at home, my eyes get their soft light back. Ahh.
