Going Through the Car Wash
Our car is going into the big machine wash.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes our car gets washed by a big machine. The car drives in, and the machine does the washing.
2. Inside, it gets loud and a little dark. Water sprays hard. Giant brushes whir and slap. Soap slides down the windows.
Roaring water, thumping brushes, dim colored light through the soap.
3. I am safe inside the car the whole time. The windows stay closed. The water and brushes only touch the outside.
4. While the machine works, I have choices.
cover my ears or wear headphones watch the soap colors like a light show count the steps: spray, soap, brushes, rinse, air hold a grown-up’s hand
5. If the car wash is too much for me, I can say so. A grown-up can plan it for when I am not in the car. Asking to skip it is allowed.
6. The whole wash takes just a few minutes. The big door opens, sunlight comes back, and our car rolls out clean and shiny. Done.
