The Crowded Room
A room full of people, movement, and noise.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes I go into a room full of people. Maybe a party. Maybe an assembly.
2. Crowds are a lot. Bodies moving everywhere. Many voices at once. Not much space.
Moving shapes all around, mixed-up voices, warm crowded air, maybe bumps.
3. My body might want to leave right away. That feeling is information. It says, "This is a lot for me."
4. I can make the crowd smaller for my body.
stand near the edge or a wall move farther away from the middle use my headphones hold a grown-up's hand ask an adult for help
5. I can find one anchor. One person I know. One corner. One job to do. Anchors make big rooms feel smaller.
6. I can take breaks. Step out, breathe, come back when I am ready. Or not come back โ I can say, "I am done." That is a complete answer.
7. Crowds always spread out and go home. The room empties. My calm comes back with the quiet.
