The Loud Restaurant
Eating out where there is lots of noise all at once.. Read it together, at your pace. Every page is written in your child's voice.
1. Sometimes my family eats at a restaurant. Restaurants can be loud.
2. Many sounds happen at once. People talking. Dishes clinking. Music playing. Chairs scraping.
A wall of talking, clinks and clatters, music on top of everything.
3. All those sounds can fill up my ears fast. My body might feel squeezed by the noise. That is a real feeling, and it makes sense.
4. I have choices to make the noise smaller.
use my headphones ask for a corner table or a booth take a break outside or in a quieter spot ask an adult for help
5. I can bring quiet things too. A fidget. A book. A drawing pad. My hands can be busy while the noise swirls.
6. If it gets too big, I can tell my grown-up. "It is too loud for me." They can help me take a break.
7. The meal ends. We walk outside. The quiet air feels wide and soft. I did a loud thing, my way.
